A Nightmare on Elm Street “Never Sleep Again”

neverSleepAgain_dvd-cov by Matthew PeakYes Freddy’s back, and while not having anything to do with the new NewLine Cinema remake of the original, I did the cover art for the Never Sleep Again, The Elm Street Legacy documentary. I also am in the film, Daniel Farrands came over to my studio and filmed a pretty lengthy interview ( I haven’t seen it yet). The DVD has interviews with “Nancy” Heather Langenkamp, Wes Craven, John Saxon, “Freddy Krueger” Robert Englund ,,producers Robert Shaye and Sara Risher, directors Stephen Hopkins Ronnie Yu Jack Sholder Chuck Russel and RennyHarlin, Amanda Wyss, composers Charles Bernstein and Christopher Young, Dokken, Lisa Wilcox, Alice Cooper, and many more.

I’ve always loved your work. I remember seeing the poster for Dream Warriors, and I immediately went to rent part 1 and 2 (it’s your fault that I’m such a big Nightmare fan!). You do an excellent job of capturing the imagination of the films. I wish current films would use artwork like this in their promotional material instead of photo shopped images of celebrities.

These are awesome. I’ve always loved these posters. Hopefully these films will be re-released on Blu-ray using these original artworks.

Those were the days. Robert Englund will ALWAYS be klassic Freddy!
This ‘Twilight’ generation needs to stop remaking the klassics!

I pre ordered the documentary on April 13 and was surprised to get the documentary May 1st, after I had seen the remake the night before. I didn’t expect it to come so early so I was stoked. I have to say, the autographed poster was great, I love the character Nancy Thompson and it was great that Heather Langenkamp signed the poster. I love all your artwork but my favorite has to be The Dream Warriors art work since that’s my favorite film of the series besides part 1. Great job and Great interview.

I love these designs: they are absolutely wonderful, and a great example of how hand drawn art usually triumphs over digitally created photos.

Thank you so much for sharing your art work.
It was a pleasure to see you in Never Sleep Again.
I used to take the VHS copies of Nightmare 1 and 3 around school with me when I was a kid to look at the artwork. My dad eventually scanned the boxes for me so I had B&W copies to cut and paste with.

Love the artwork, I agree, the films should be released on blu-ray the same style as the original DVD box set, preserving the original artwork. Thanks for posting these HQ prints!

The first Nightmare on Elm Street poster is such an iconic image! For years, I’ve always wondered who did that illustration, and thanks to the Internet, I know now. Do you know who owns the original?
